Meta: Windows 11 promises to bring a fresh perspective to computer operating systems. Let’s take a look at the latest updates below!
With high expectations from the user community and the technology industry worldwide, Windows 11 has officially debuted with impressive features. A newly designed interface, improved multitasking capabilities, and a maximized user experience promise a fresh outlook on computer operating systems. Let’s explore the unique new features and notable enhancements in Windows 11.
Update to the latest features of Windows 11
Displaying Seconds on the Clock in the Taskbar
This feature appeared in Windows 10 before but was omitted when Microsoft introduced Windows 11 in 2021. However, with the upcoming Moment 3 update for Windows 11, Microsoft will bring back the clock with hours, minutes, and seconds, located at the bottom right corner of the Taskbar.
Second Display Feature (Last Line)
This feature will not be enabled by default. To use it, users need to access the Settings app > Personalizations > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors and toggle the switch for “Show seconds in the system tray clock.”
Getting Early Updates
In addition to the Windows Insiders program for testing users, stable Windows 11 users can now receive early updates through the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re possible” feature.
Users can enable this feature in the Settings app > Windows Update. Alternatively, they can use the Windows + I shortcut to quickly open settings, then access the Windows Update section and turn on this brand-new feature.
Getting Early Updates
Quick Copy of OTP Codes
The Windows 11 22H2 Moment 3 update will introduce the ability to quickly copy One-Time Password (OTP) codes and paste them into apps that require this security code. In general, this new feature will significantly streamline the user’s login process.
Notification Cards in the Start Menu
In the upcoming Start Menu, Microsoft will add the ability to display notification cards to remind users of account-related issues. This includes reminding users to switch to personal accounts rather than Microsoft’s default local accounts, backing up data to OneDrive, updating account information, and more.
If users dislike this change, they can easily disable it through the Settings app > Personalization > Start and toggle off the “Show account-related notifications” option.
New Widget Layout
Since introducing the integrated Widget feature in Windows 11, Microsoft has continually improved it through various updates. With the Moment 3 update, Microsoft will introduce a completely new vertical 3-column layout for the Widget interface, making app card layout and interaction processes more intuitive.
Enhanced Live Captions Feature
The Live Captions feature automatically generates subtitles based on the audio/video being played. With the Moment 3 update, this feature will support multiple new languages including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Danish, and English (for the Republic of Ireland and other English-speaking regions). Unfortunately, Vietnamese is not yet supported by this feature.
The Live Captions feature is useful for the hearing-impaired and users working in noisy environments, where it’s difficult to hear the content being transmitted on the computer.
Enhanced Live Captions Feature
Limiting the Number of Tabs Displayed in Multitasking View
When users press the Alt + Tab shortcut, all running multitasking apps will be displayed on the screen, including tab previews from browser applications like Edge, Chrome, etc.
With the latest update for Windows 11, alongside regular background apps, Microsoft has added an option to display up to the last 20 pages from browser applications. This helps users quickly switch work tabs using shortcuts rather than relying on the mouse.
Users simply need to access the Settings app (through the gear icon or the Windows + I shortcut) > System > Multitasking and select the “Show tabs from when snapping or pressing” option to choose from “Don’t show tabs” to “20 most recent tabs.”
Other Enhancements in Windows 11 Moment 3
In addition to the significant upgrades, the new update for Windows 11 22H2 also brings other minor enhancements, such as the shield icon appearing when the VPN feature is activated, improved voice recognition, and assigning the PrtScn (Print Screen) key to open the Snipping Tool.
